BLAKE’S WELLNESS JOURNEY
In high school I was involved in just about every sport: track, soccer, ultimate frisbee, etc., and would go for a run almost every day after school. I want to have that same athleticism again and feel good about myself. I desire a lifestyle change, not just a temporary fix.
WHAT OBSTACLES HAVE YOU OVERCOME?
The biggest obstacle for me was being hospitalized in high school and in college. That affected my self-confidence tremendously as well as my lifestyle. However, I remained resilient and graduated from both high school and college. I now work for an incredible association that values health and wellness. I consider that a win!
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
I am resilient and determined to reach my fitness goals. I have failed over and over again with maintaining consistent exercise and healthy nutrition, but I have never given up. I continue to push myself and try new things. For example, this May I am going to participate in a 3-mile mud run/obstacle course race! I am so excited! In 2020 I also completed a 5k and a 4-mile run/walk that I am proud of.
WHAT IS YOUR NUTRITION SECRET?
I am still working on nailing down a plan that works well for me. I have learned though, that packing my lunch during the week helps me stay away from buying unhealthy food. I have thought about trying a diet plan such as keto, but I want something that will work for me long-term, not just temporary.
WHAT IS YOUR FITNESS SECRET?
The key to maintaining a healthy fitness plan is to build consistency. This has been a challenge, but I have created an exercise plan that works for me. My workout plan includes weights/strength training, running/walking, and cycle classes every week.
WHAT ROLE HAS YOUR EHG HEALTH COACH AND EHG PLAYED IN YOUR WELLNESS JOURNEY?
Accountability has been a huge factor in helping me attain my fitness goals. I love my sessions with Lizzie because there is no judgement, and I am able to speak honestly with her. When I first came to THA, I knew I wanted to be a part of THA’s wellness community. There is nothing better than having a supportive team cheering you on!
