ROB’S WELLNESS JOURNEY
Over 10 years of responding to medical calls on the fire department, I truly believe that lifestyle plays a role in a lot of these calls. I knew my lack of exercise, poor eating habits, and family medical history only exacerbate the likelihood that I was putting myself at risk earlier for a medical emergency.
My energy levels began to drop, and I was becoming winded more often than usual.
WHAT OBSTACLES HAVE YOU OVERCOME?
The triple cheeseburger from Wendy’s!
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
I’ve lost 29 pounds since the screening in 2019, so seeing 200 pounds on the scale was a proud moment. Changes in my exercise and eating habits also lowered all my cholesterol levels and I’ve lost 3 inches around my waist.
WHAT IS YOUR NUTRITION SECRET?
I haven’t had a soft drink in over a year, and I pack and bring lunch every day instead of hitting the closest drive thru. I also now do all the grocery shopping, so I have reduced how much food I buy from the middle isles and am buying more fresh foods from the perimeter.
WHAT IS YOUR FITNESS SECRET?
I participate in multiple activities, like biking, running, and going to the gym which helps eliminate monotony. In April I ran the Bowie 5k Trail Run in Fairview.
WHAT ROLE HAS YOUR EHG HEALTH COACH AND EHG PLAYED IN YOUR WELLNESS JOURNEY?
